Time to take your poolside look up a few notches.

Once you say it out loud, it sounds almost unbelievable. But it's true. Todd Snyder—the NYC-based designer behind everything from Tom Holland's smash-hit cardigan to undeniably cool Timex collaborations and always-reliable wardrobe essentials—has never made his own swimwear before. He has offered up some trunks to the buying public in the past, thanks to a collab with veteran surf-style purveyor Birdwell. But when it comes to Todd Snyder-branded swim shorts, it's only just this week that concept transformed into reality. Wild, huh?

Well, maybe it's not so wild. Not as wild, at least, as the psychedelic swimsuit that's part of the inaugural collection. But the introduction of the new category is certainly welcome news, coming just in time for the beginning of spring and well ahead of the dog days of summer. According to Snyder himself, it couldn't have come soon enough for some of the brand's fans.

"The decision to move into our own swimwear was an easy one after seeing the incredible demand for it at our East Hampton store and with swim collaborations with other brands over the years," he said in a statement. "Quality and fit is always essential and most importantly, it needs to meet the customers’ needs." What those customers need, apparently, is an easygoing trunk with an elastic waist, mesh lining, side pockets, a self-draining back pocket, and a happy-medium, TikTok-approved 5-inch inseam. That's good news, because that's what all of us could use this summer. Leave it to Snyder to hit the sweet spot.

If you're in the market—and to be clear, you should be—the whole lineup is available now. Will the same be true when it's sweltering outside and the only remedy is a day at the beach or the pool? Who's to say? Take that information and shop accordingly.
