Have you ever wanted to swim with a mermaid? Well, now’s your chance! The Long Island Aquarium is opening up its Shark Reef Lagoon, filled with gorgeous tropical fish from all over the world, for kids to swim with their live mermaids.

“This is a magical, interactive experience you can’t get anywhere else,” Long Island Aquarium says.

Time and space is limited, so reservations are required. The event is designed for participants of all ages (children must be beyond diaper age, and accompanied by an adult if under 7). Wet suits are available if needed but participants are encouraged to wear their own bathing suit. You can also bring your own snorkel gear (mask, flippers and mouthpiece) or they have brand-new ones available for purchase.

Starts in July 2022. Mondays and Fridays at 10:30am; 11:45am; 1:30pm; 2:45pm. Price is $49 per person ($44.10 for members). Aquarium admission fee is not included and is required.
